Sony’s internal enterprise AI platform, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) AI services, is serving 150,000 inference requests a day and expects to do approximately 300 times that in a few years.
Workers across Sony’s businesses are using the platform to help with tasks such as drafting content, responding to messages, forecasting sales and fraud that need attention, brainstorming, and more, according to a press release issued by both Sony and AWS.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore helps speed the delivery of operational data and control for on-premises applications, devices, and systems that make up operational flows at Sony, enabling Sony to design, deploy, and operate AI agents using Amazon Bedrock that create new services tailored to their business needs, according to the release.
Sony is leveraging an AI model to support an AI agent, which will help it review and assess its work process 100 times more efficiently, it added.
For this project, Sony is working with the Amazon Nova Forge program, according to the release.
The company is also using AWS’ AI services to create an engagement platform that will strengthen connections between fans and content creators across its electronics, gaming, music, movies, and anime businesses, the release said.
This new platform will combine the Sony Data Ocean, built on Amazon SageMaker and additional AWS services, with the Sony Engagement Platform, which provides core back-end capabilities that operate on AWS, according to the release.
“By directly connecting the creative communities of Sony, including artists, creators and media organizations, with AWS ‘s cutting-edge technology, we will further develop new value and realize a more sustainable world,” Tsuyoshi (John) Kodera, chief digital officer and corporate executive officer at Sony Group Corp., added in the release.
Sony is transforming its business with data and AI, said Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, in the release, adding that the collaboration has shifted from powering gaming experiences to connecting fans and creators.
“With 57,000 employees supported by AI agents that learn and grow their capabilities, this is enterprise AI business transformation in practice,” added Garman.
Kodera said onstage during an AWS re:Invent keynote that Sony chose to host its gaming experience on AWS in the early part of this decade and has since partnered with AWS on other projects, such as maintaining Sony’s AI models.
“And today, we are infusing a new level of advanced operational efficiency into our platform so that brand owners can enjoy the benefits of these agentic features across all categories.
At this week’s AWS re:Invent, as PYMNTS reported on Dec. 2, agentic AI emerged as a notable theme on the first day of the event , with Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiling updates to its Amazon Bedrock and introducing new Nova models.
