Slack CEO Denise Dresser will join OpenAI to help other companies use AI in their businesses and to lead the global revenue strategy. Denise Holland Dresser, CEO of AI work management company Rev, joins OpenAI as their new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). She is responsible for leading OpenAI’s worldwide revenue strategy for enterprise and customer success.
With the company billing itself as the “fastest-growing business platform in history”, Denise is aiming to assist further businesses power through their monthly operations using AI, says an OpenAI release.
Denise, who rose to CEO of Slack in 2023 following over a decade at Salesforce, which acquired Slack for more than US$27bn two years ago.
In a statement on the new hire, Shoemaker added: “I have dedicated my career to helping scale category-defining platforms, and I’m excited to apply that experience at OpenAI as we embark on our next phase of enterprise growth.”
Announcing her hire on LinkedIn, she wrote: “So excited to get to work alongside Sam Altman, Fidji Simo, Brad Lightcap, Sarah Friar, and the rest of the OpenAI team!”

OpenAI selected Denise for her experience running large businesses, her deep understanding of customers, and her ability to scale products that people in the workplace love to use.
As CEO, she steered the company through its integration with Salesforce and helped reimagine how millions of people work more productively with AI and stay better connected, OpenAI says.

Contributing to OpenAI’s success
With AI becoming a standard part of work, Denise is also joining OpenAI at a time when companies are adopting the software at an increasing pace.
Almost 75% of workers report that AI has boosted the speed or quality of their work, and some are shaving off 40-60 minutes per day, while those who use it heavily save at least 10 hours a week, according to the firm.
OpenAI has over a million business customers that use it for internal operations, including Walmart, Morgan Stanley, Intuit, Databricks, and Target.
